GENERAL QUESTIONS
1. What is the "Student Russia"?
It is an All-Russian competition for international students studying in Russia who have already achieved success in science, sports, creativity, volunteering, or public activities. It is your chance to get noticed, gain recognition, and win valuable prizes.
2. Who can participate?
International students enrolled in Russian universities in Bachelor's (from the 2nd year), Specialist, Master’s, Postgraduate (PhD), or Residency programs. Participants must be between 18 and 30 years old. The main requirement is having verifiable achievements from the last academic year.
3. How much does it cost to participate?
Participation in the Competition is completely free of charge.
4. Who is the organizer?
The competition is organized by the University of Science and Technology MISIS (Moscow) with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.
APPLICATION-RELATED QUESTIONS
5. How do I apply?
1) Go to the official Competition website.
2) Fill out the online application form.
3) Attach your portfolio and motivation letter in PDF format.
4) Submit your application by September 14, 2025.
6. What should be included in the portfolio?
A portfolio is a collection of your most significant achievements: diplomas, certificates, awards, and letters of appreciation. You may attach up to 10 documents. The higher the level of the event (university, regional, all-Russian, international), the more points you will receive.
7. What should I write in the motivation letter?
Explain why you have chosen this particular nomination, what you have already achieved, and what your goals are. The letter should be logical, sincere, and showcase your uniqueness. The required length is at least 450 words.
8. Can I participate in multiple nominations?
Yes, you can choose from one to three nominations. However, please note: you must provide different achievements for each nomination; repetition is not allowed.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE COMPETITION STAGES
9. What happens after I apply?
The competition is held in 3 stages:
1. Qualifying (Remote) Stage: Your portfolio will be evaluated by the Expert Commission. Results will be announced by September 24.
2. District (On-site) Stage: If you are selected, you will be invited to a forum in your federal district. You will need to film a video presentation and complete on-site tasks. This stage will last until the end of October.
3. All-Russian (On-site, Final) Stage: The best participants from each district will go to the final forum in Moscow in November-December 2025.
10. What is a "video presentation" and what are the requirements?
This is a short video (1−3 minutes long) where you talk about yourself, your journey in Russia, and your achievements. The language can be Russian or English (depending on the chosen language track). The key aspects are creativity, emotional appeal, and relevance to your chosen nomination.
11. Where will the on-site stages be held?
The district stages will be held at the venues of co-organizing universities in different federal districts (see the Geography of the Competition). The All-Russian final will be held in Moscow at the University of Science and Technology MISIS.
QUESTIONS ABOUT RESULTS AND AWARDS
12. How are the applications evaluated?
Experts evaluate three components: portfolio (up to 25 points), video presentation (up to 9 points), and motivation letter (up to 6 points). The maximum total score is 40 points. Additional points for on-site tasks are added during the District and All-Russian stages.
13. What prizes can be won?
All finalists and winners will receive diplomas and commemorative prizes. The top award is the Grand Prix "Best International Student" for the most outstanding participants.

15. "I consent to the processing of my personal data". What does this mean?
This is a mandatory requirement. By submitting your application, you agree that the organizers may use the data you provided (full name, university, achievements) for the purposes of conducting the Competition.
